Road freight from Europe to Iran

Full and part loads from Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Turkey, crossing at Bazargan, Razi or Astara, cleared at the inland customs house.

Why road from Europe

For cargo that cannot wait for a vessel or justify an aircraft

A truck from central Europe reaches Tehran in roughly two weeks. The same cargo by sea has to run to a north European port, wait for a vessel, tranship somewhere along the way, and then come back inland from Bandar Abbas. For mid-sized consignments, road is often both faster and simpler.

The usual route runs through Turkey and crosses at Bazargan or Razi. The truck loads at origin, the customs file is prepared along the way, and the cargo is entered at the inland customs house in Iran — with no extra handling in between.

Loading options

A whole truck, or a share of one

If your cargo fills a truck, a full load (FTL) is the simplest and fastest: loaded at origin, unloaded at destination, untouched in between.

If it does not, a part load (LTL) shares the truck with other consignments. It costs less, but the departure depends on the truck filling, and that has to be allowed for in your planning.

  • Tilt, box, reefer and flatbed equipment to suit the cargo
  • Insurance in place for the whole route
  • Position reports at the borders and main stages

Common questions

About road freight from Europe

From central Europe, usually around two weeks to the destination customs house, depending on the exact origin, queues at the border and the season. Winter and public holidays along the route can add days. The estimate comes with the rate.

If your cargo takes more than about half a truck, a full load is usually both cheaper and faster, because you are not waiting for the truck to fill. Below that, a part load makes sense — provided you have a few days of flexibility.

Normally at the inland customs house — Tehran for most customers — rather than at the border. That keeps clearance close to your warehouse. Where border clearance would be quicker, we will suggest it.

Yes, the same lane in the other direction. For exporters shipping to Europe we take it from loading at your warehouse in Iran through to delivery at the consignee’s door.
